SLEEPING WITH SIRENS unleash the MADNESS in Philadelphia's Liacouras Center

Grand Rapids, Michigan’s own Sleeping With Sirens made their way into Philadelphia on November 21st, to The Liacouras Center inside Temple University on the Back To The Future Hearts tour with All Time Low as a co-headliner. 5-piece (Kellin Quinn on Vocals, Jack Fowler on Lead Guitar, Gabe Barham on Truth Drums, Nick Martin on Rhythm Guitar, Justin Hills on Bass, & Touring Member Alex Mark Howard on backing vocals & guitar) Epic Alt-Rock band, Sleeping With Sirens hit the stage with their explosive single “Kick Me” off their fourth full-length studio album released via Epitaph Records making for an extraordinary crowd response, everyone jumping and screaming along to the song. The Liacouras Center then shaking as the crowds overwhelming screams deafened. I have seen these guys start playing in a small church in Philadelphia that holds about 100 people to now playing nearly sold out arenas like The Liacouras Center which holds about 10,000 people. Sleeping With Sirens have done nothing but grow as not only musicians but also growing a huge very loyal fanbase over the years. With their energy and crowd interaction it’s no wonder these guys have such a solid and rapidly-expanding fan base. The crowd was singing their songs, mimicking their actions and reaching across the barriers just to get closer to the band they love. The band performed with such a great energy, using all of the space on stage, running and jumping off their risers. One of the most captivating aspects of their performance was the band’s friendship on stage; The members would often play back to back, make faces towards each other, and they were obviously having a blast while giving the fans the show they all want to see. Sleeping With Sirens, as a whole, showed that it’s not about quantity, it’s about quality when performing live. Although they only got to play 13 songs they put on an incredible show and all their vocals and instrumentals were beyond flawless. Kellin Quinn’s vocals sounded better than I've ever heard as they reached tasteful highs and powerful intensity filled lows and Kellin’s high falsetto, matched with a power-punk scream, is the definitive characteristic for the SWS’s unique sound while also at the same time each song could become a soundtrack/anthem to someones life as many of the lyrics connect deeply with their fans. Almost every song put out by Sleeping with Sirens is anthem like, with their very catchy lyrics and talent filled sound. Their 13 song setlist filled with a wide variety of songs from their newest album Madness, to their second album, Lets Cheers To This ending their extremely forceful set with “If You Can’t Hang” off that album. Nearing the middle of Sleeping With Sirens set Kellin announced that they would soon be releasing a live acoustic album with 13 songs recorded from the “I Like It Quiet Tour” before entering into a more calm part of their set where Kellin, Nick & Alex were the only members presented on stage to perform Sleeping With Sirens hit acoustic song “Scene Five: With Ears to See, & Eyes To Hear” & an incredible cover of Goo Goo Doll’s “Iris.” Picking the speed right back up with their hit song off their 3rd studio album Feel titled “Congratulations” which ignited the crowd right back into their energetic, moshing, crazy ways. Production on this tour is beyond phenomenal with the brightly lit stage, with sparkling SWS letters illuminating behind the band on stage. One of their best productions I have ever seen, Sleeping With Sirens is conquering their scene with one of the largest fan bases within it. Nearing the end of their set Kellin joined the crowd to sing right with them with a very inactive sing along, Nick Martin also entering into the crowd to play his guitar throughout the entire venue he used every bit of space on and off the stage to put on one hell of a performance. At times throughout their set you could barley hear Kellin’s vocals or the rest of the bands instruments over the mindblowingly loud SWS fans screaming the lyrics right back at the band. The very impressive musicianship, The incredible production, The amazing talent, The Large Venue, The Green Microphone, All are reasons Back To The Future Hearts Tour is one you should have seen as Philly was 1 of the last three shows on the tour it was surely one of the 3 great cities to end a tour in.
