Mayday Parade Marches to First No. 1 on Rock & Alternative Album Charts with BLACK LINES
After four tries, the fifth is a charm: The Tallahassee, Fla., rockers; Mayday Parade lands its first No. 1 on Billboard's Top Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts (dated Oct. 31) with fifth entry Black Lines. The set starts with first-week sales of 16,000, according to Nielsen Music. The band previously reached No. 4 on both Top Rock Albums (with 2013's Monsters in the Closet) and Alternative Albums (with Monsters and 2011's self-titled LP), although the new set's opening sales are roughly half of Monsters' 30,000 first-week sum.
Black Lines also debuts at No. 21 on the Billboard 200, the band's third-best showing on the chart; Monsters debuted and peaked at No. 10, and its eponymous 2011 set, No. 12.
