Radio 104.5 Celebrated Their 8th Birthday with Of Monsters and Men, Death Cab For Cutie, Hozier &
Radio 104.5 is known for having a wide array of acts that cater to everyone's taste for their birthday shows. Their 8th annual show held at the Susquehanna Bank Center on May 10th was no different as this year particular highlighted musical acts that appeals to young and older fans alike. Hence, a show that sold out as soon as tickets were sold. If you weren't catching the main stage right away, Radio 104.5 had their own discovery stage that went on in between the main headliners. Here, up and coming performances from pop tinged Holychild, Night Riots, X Ambassadors, and Meg Myers happened during the course of the day and had a pretty good sized crowd. Each act played their hearts out, and will undoubtedly probably find themselves on the main stage for years to come.
The main headliners were from a wide array of genres. You had the acoustic stylings of Vance Joy, the high energy vigor of AWOLnation, and the pop gittyness of Walk The Moon and Passion Pit. The latter which will probably rule the pop airways this summer. It seemed like everything was evenly paced and booked. Moreso, energetic early on in the day. From there, blues sensation Hozier leveled everything out into a smooth, mature like cadence., From here, Death Cab For Cutie played old favorites and some new from their recently released album, Kintsugi. Closing the night, Icelandic band, On Monsters And Men played an hour long set with atmospheric lights in preparation for their upcoming album, Beneath The Skin.
Throughout the years, Radio 104.5 has had a good equilibrium in predicting the next upcoming acts in alternative/pop music coupled with the established acts of today. This year, seemed like the winning streak will keep going at least for another year as bands and fans alike were satisfied.
