Chasing Safety - Seasons Of The Dead (Album Review)
Season of the Dead is the debut album from hardcore New Jersey outfit Chasing Safety. The album was released October 14, 2014 under Outerloop Records and was streamed prior to it’s release on Outerloops YouTube channel on October 9, 2014. The album was produced by Dan Korneff (Pierce The Veil, Crown The Empire) and Nick Sampson (I See Stars, Asking Alexandria). Of the album, the band stated, “A few months ago we went into the studio to record what we now call Season of the Dead. All these songs are pieces of who we’ve become over the last few years in this band. If you’ve ever seen us live you know we put 200% into our performance and we’ve put just as much blood, sweat, and tears into our debut record...We love what we’ve created together as a band and we are thrilled to finally share it with the world.” From what I’ve been able to gather, there were two singles released prior to the release of the album, one being titled "Common Enemies" & the other "Till Death Do Us Part". There are three tracks on this album that really stood out to me, and by stood out I mean evoked some sort of emotional response, whether it be wanting to bash someone’s head on a curb or hug someone. The first of them is ‘My Revenge (ft. Kyle Bihrle)’. Initially the title is what pulled me in and now it’s my favorite track on the entire album hands down. It’s straight up kick-ass and in your face and just makes you want to go out and do something. Maybe run a mile or judo chop someone, I don’t judge. My favorite line, and new life motto it “I won’t ever give up, I don’t care who’s by my side.” Such a great message and I think more people need to be in that mindset. The second track I adore is ‘Listen Closely (ft. Spencer Charnas). Again, with this song there’s the kick-ass factor. Matter of fact every song on the album kicks ass, these two just have a little something extra. Finally, the last, and a close second for my favorite song on the album is ‘Through Winters (ft. Jason Lancaster)’ which has clean vocals for the duration of the track, a little break from the prior tracks. It’s a little more mellow, nicer, sweeter. It almost brought a tear to my eye, though I couldn’t put my finger on why. It’s just an incredibly sweet song! Fan reception as far as I can tell has been nothing but very positive and alot of great things to say about this extraordinary debut album from Chasing Safety. All that I’ve seen have been fans praising and loving each and every song on the album which is flawless.
Rating 5/5- What’s there to say? This album is nothing short of incredible. It will keep your attention and won’t let it go until the last note resonates through you, which you will then go and hit the replay button because you will not be able to get enough of this album. On my personal list of awesome albums, this is totally one of the best albums of 2014 hands freakin’ down. There is literally nothing not to like about this album even down to the album art. Being a fan of Chasing Safety since they were known as Us, From Outside. Ive watched these guys progress so much and they're currently doing incredibly well and im stoked for their very bright future! Chasing Safety is a very talented group of guys and I can’t wait to hear more from them in the future! Be sure to get your copy of Season of the Dead today!
