The Madden Brothers - Greetings From California (Album Review)
Greetings From California is the debut album from Maryland born twin brothers Benji and Joel Madden released September 16, 2014 via Capitol Records, and produced by Eric Valentine (Good Charlotte, Queens of the Stone Age) and Joe Chiccarelli (My Morning Jacket, Cage the Elephant). The album comes with two “sides”, the first is upbeat and catchy songs, the second is more inspired by “70’s FM pop”. No matter which side you listen to, the sound is different from what we’ve heard from the boy in the past in their days in Good Charlotte, which were considerably more angst-ridden. For most of the album it almost has a summertime vibe to it, which I suppose makes sense, I’m sure living in California it’s summery most of the time. All around it’s a very easy to listen to album, there’s some pretty chill and positive vibes for most of the album, and it’s just nice!
Rating 5/5- I can’t lie there’s some bias in that perfect rating, but I do what I want. Sue me. The Madden twins heavily influenced my musical taste when I was younger while they were in Good Charlotte, and now again as a duo they’re doing it again. It’s always exciting to see good things happen to deserving people, and I can’t think of any person any more deserving of success than them. While, again it’s a change from what we’re used too and some fans aren’t exactly happy about that, I’m ecstatic that they’re back and on people’s radar! I can’t wait to see what else The Madden Brothers accomplish!
