For All Those Sleeping - Incomplete Me (Album Review)
Incomplete Me is the third studio album from Minnesota metalcore outfit For All Those Sleeping. The album was released via Fearless Records on June 23, 2014. It peaked at #2 on the iTunes Rock and iTunes Metal charts.
There were two singles released before the release of the album; ‘Crosses’ on May 13, 2014 and the title track ‘Incomplete Me’ on June 3, 2014.The energy and emotion on this album is nothing short of fantastic. It’s intense, with some lulls as well, but then goes right back into being in your face! Dare I say this album is metalcore at it’s best? There were three tracks that stood out to me; ‘Demons’ just because it’s an incredibly real song that everyone can relate to “we all have demons”; that speaks to so many people. ‘Incomplete Me’ is the second. I can’t put a finger on it, but it just feels very relatable, at least at this point in my life. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad. Finally ‘Home’ is the one that stood out the most to me on a personal level. It’s angry, and is my favorite song at the moment. The entire song is my favorite, but the beginning verse and hook are my favorite:
“You got my best and now I'm righting the wrong. And if you didn't know why, I give you 3 good reasons! One - You left me for dead Two - All your promises Three - You never gave enough, all you did was give me up! One - You left me for dead Two - All your promises Three - You never gave enough, you gave me up, you selfish fuck!”
The album is getting mixed reviews from fans, the general consensus seems to be fairly evenly split. Some like it, some hate it. That comes with the territory though.
Rating: 4/5- Superb. Generally speaking this album was great. There were songs that I could relate to and that’s always a selling point for me. Then there were some tracks that I didn’t find so great, but that’s okay too! It’s not a horrible album by any means. Be sure to pick up their album and give it a listen, you won’t be disappointed!
