Interview With Nevada Rose
Nevada Rose (Justin Dimarco)
Interviewer: Andrew Wendowski - July 2014
We recently got the opportunity to chat with Justin of Nevada Rose, A New Jersey based 5 piece Hardcore/Pop/Electronic band.
MM-Q1: Introduce yourselves & your part in the band, along with a small background on the band.
NR-A1: Hey Guys, thanks for having us. Nevada Rose is Nicki- Vocals, Justin-Guitar/Vocals, Adam-Guitar/Programming, Kyle-Drums/Programming. Kyle and I (Justin) started the band with the intention of blending EDM, Pop, and Hardcore music in a way that wasn't touched upon yet. Once we started demoing out songs, we knew we had something special. We've been a band for a little less then a year now and feel very blessed to be in the situation we are.
MM-Q2: How did you choose the name Nevada Rose?
NR-A2: The idea of a "Rose" was something we always toyed around with when trying to choose a name. We liked the idea of something visual that people could remember us by and a Rose holds aesthetic value that we like. We just thought Nevada sounded cool before it lol
MM-Q3: How did you end up becoming apart of Tragic Hero Records? How did they find you?
NR-A3: Once the album was done we found a manager and immediately there was a bunch of attention from several labels. We've always loved Tragic Hero and when they approached us aggressively everything just kind of fell into place. Everyone from the label came out to the Ohio date on our last tour and we all got along really well. Definitely awesome, hardworking people and we couldn't be happier.
MM-Q4: Is there any story or significant meaning behind your album entitled “Paint Me In Light”?
NR-A4: The idea of "Paint Me In Light" was Adam's idea and we look at it as being cleansed or reborn. This band is a new chapter in all of our lives so we are starting over and taking on the world.
MM-Q5: What was it like working with the amazing Andrew Wade (A Day To Remember, The Word Alive, Motionless In White) on producing/recording your album “Paint Me In Light”?
NR-A5: We had high expectations heading into the studio to work with Andrew and he went above and beyond. His knowledge, ideas, and work ethic are amazing and he made this album as good as it could be. There were some very long days tracking and writing but he always made it fun and kept us motivated and determined. We've kept in touch with him and consider him a friend.
MM-Q6: What was the production & recording process like when creating this album?
NR-A6: The writing/production process was a bit challenging but fun. Blending the EDM elements with the hardcore/pop sound took thought and a lot of experimentation but once we got in the groove of writing a song it became more of a vibe and flow type thing that drove the music. There were times when we'd listen to artists like Skrillex, Zomboy, or Krewella and be like "Ok, hear how they do that here? Let's try and sound like a band and do something similar."
MM-Q7: When writing music for this album, What inspired the lyrics?
NR-A7: I think lyrically Nicki wrote a lot about what we were going through at the time. We worked our asses off with the album and put our hearts, minds, and souls into making this what it needs to be. With that comes a lot of sacrifice and I think his lyrics touch upon that often.
MM-Q8: If you had to choose 5 words to describe your band, What would they be & why?
NR-A8: Party, Dance, Dubstep, Breakdowns, Lights. That's the vibe we give off at our live show. We have fun always and we want people to do the same.
MM-Q9: What in store for the future of Nevada Rose? Any tours soon to be announced? Music Videos?
NR-A9: We plan to tour to promote "Paint Me In Light" all summer and into the Fall. There are some pretty big names being mentioned that we are excited about in a few months who we may hit the road with but everyone will know eventually. We would love to shoot a music video!
MM-Q10: Why should everyone go check out Nevada Rose?
NR-A10: If you love Dance Beats, Dubstep, Hardstyle, Breakdowns, Riffs, and Choruses check us out. We like to keep the listener guessing with each track so you'll never be bored!
*Anything you want to say to your current or future fans?*
