As It Seems - Mike Naran (Song Review)
'As It Seems' is the debut single from New England native Mike Naran. The single dropped February 26th and the music video was released on Vevo March 18th. Naran’s EP Here, Now is available for pre-order and is set for release April 8th. The song is upbeat, catchy, perfect for summer! Though, don’t let the happy sound of the song fool you, since the speaker of the song is speaking to a lover who left “I gotta let you know that I still care”, “I’ve got empty hands and you’ve got plans”, “you found the one, you found a new me”. Ouch. However that doesn’t take away from the fact that I can almost guarantee this will be a summer anthem; it’s catchy and has a beach in the music video (a nice change from the rain and snow we’ve been seeing so much of, at least here on the east coast). Fan reception has been nothing short of positive and warm, which is refreshing to see after seeing all of the hate so many artists get. When someone says you sound better live than on a recording, then that means you’re doing it right, especially when you’ve done everything on the album yourself; writing to musical arrangements to everything in between! With 2014 just beginning I’m sure that Naran has much more in store for the year to come! And we can’t wait to see what he does, and how far he’s going to go! He’s already off to an amazing start. Rating 4/5- Love it. Love, love, love it. It’s refreshing, poppy, summer-y, and a whole other bunch of adjectives my brain can’t form right now because in all honesty they probably aren’t real words. I don’t even care if there’s sad undertones, I love this song (or maybe I’m just a masochist). Listen to the song, buy the EP, and show this dude some love! Mike’s a talented guy, and I can’t wait to see what else there is to come!
