Taylor Swift - 1989 1st Birthday

Taylor Swift released 1989 a year ago today, and she recognized the special day with a post on Twitter calling this past year the best of her life. Understandable: The album, Swift’s fifth, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and went on to become the fastest-selling album in over 10 years. It was also the top-selling album from Dec. 29, 2014 to June 28, 2015, according to Nielsen’s mid-year charts released this past July. The 1989 tour has also made headlines with dozens of guest stars like Lena Dunham, the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team, Justin Timberlake, and Julia Roberts. As of earlier this month it had grossed $152.6 millionsince May and will continue into December. Ryan Adams also covered the album in full this summer, and Swift called the project “such an honor.” '1989', the singer's fifth studio LP, was released on October 27 2014, spawning the singles 'Shake It Off', 'Blank Space', 'Style', 'Bad Blood' and 'Wildest Dreams'.

For Swifties everywhere, it feels like 365 days of bliss. For everyone else, it was the year Swift became an undeniable household name.

1989 went platinum the first week – selling 1.287 million copies
